Hydroalcoholic extracts

Hydroalcoholic extracts are obtained by maceration in certified-organic alcohol and water, according to French Pharmacopoeia guidelines.

Fresh plants are cleaned in their natural habitat and processed within a few hours of picking. Then the water content is determined by drying a representative sample of the drug. The material is left to macerate for at least 21 days, based on the specific characteristics of each plant, shaking frequently to facilitate infusion.

Once this step is complete, the product is decanted and filtered. After combining the decanted and filtered liquids, it is set aside to rest in a dark environment for 48 hours (further filtering is sometimes required). The final product is a 1:10 dilution taking the dry weight of the drug, with the exception of Calendula with is diluted 1:20. For solutions from dried plant material, the same procedure is followed but the ratio is 1:5 or 1:10 depending on the initial weight of the dried material.
